Global Warming Prophecy

OK - so after calling Oprah Winfrey a false prophet and leader of a cult... I'm going to take a stab at prophecy myself. You ready? Here it is.
I predict that soon (relatively soon), we are going to see a consistent cooling trend of global temperatures. That's right. The average temperature of the world will go DOWN! And when that happens, what will you do? What will you believe?
Seriously! We have been taught (brain-washed) that WE are the cause of global warming. We are ALL irresponsible, pathetic human beings who are polluting mother earth. We should all be ashamed of ourselves and DO something to stop global warming. We should join the worship of our earth.
However, I don't believe that is the case. I don't think humans have a SIGNIFICANT factor to play in the whole global warming fiasco. There are too many other stats to factor into the picture.
So, once again, if my prophecy is correct - WHAT WILL YOU DO?What will you believe? What will happen to all of the incessant programs and limitations that government is putting on America? Will you be more comfortable in getting an SUV? Will you stop worrying so much about human beings being so BAD?
My biggest question to all the 'green-heads'... will you admit you're wrong?
You can't justpick up your marbles and go play somewhere else. These are our marbles. In fact, why don't you just leave your marbles here and go play somewhere else. I'm sure you'll find some other governmental, bureaucratic cause to waste our tax payer money and cost Americans jobs while hurting the poor.

I would agree - mostly. I do not believe that Global Warming is a product of our actions. We have not been tracking temperature highs and lows long enough to offer that conclusion. I also believe that any perceived warming effect will be met by a cooling effect in coming years. It is all cyclic. I do see a benefit in emissions control however. Drive through Fresno or most any valley and it is obvious that something should be done to alleviate the smog. This issue of smog though has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Barry, no one will say that they are wrong. Some excuse will be provided regardless, "A cooling effect would be due to the smog deflecting the sun's heat."
Craig,
thanks for the comment. I can see it now - "humans are the cause of global cooling - too much emissions/co2 - what can you do to warm the earth?" That would be a great headline!
I consider myself a very opened minded person who thinks in a very "Green" way and I have no doubts that we are experiencing a cyclical event on earth. With this said, I have a tendency to believe in Global Warming. When you look at the scientific samples of CO2 gases trapped in glaciers it is very evident that the CO2 levels have rapidly increased over the past 200 years at levels never seen before. This timeline is directly inline with the start of the Industrial Revolution and the increase in human population. So I do think that man needs to take some blame in the current rapid acceleration of this warming cycle. Now is the time for all to find the equilibrium to help save God's Earth.
Perry - They weren't doing CO2 testing 200 years ago. I do not see how we can arrive at that conclusion so early in the game. Educate me. I do accept the responsibility that man has with decreasing the air quality in many areas of the world. This has a greater impact on my respiratory system than on the warming effect on the earth. In 1975, Newsweek published an article on the Cooling World.
I think that you and I can agree that the condition of the Earth relies on man. It would be better use of our time if we focused on the absolutes of the world than on the hypotheticals. What we would see is the hypotheticals being answered because we are taking care of the absolutes.
Granted, CO2 testing technology was not around 200 years ago, but by looking at the layers within a glacier scientists can determine CO2 levels that were experienced by the glacier during the period of its existence, much the same way you can determine the age and environmental factors of a tree by looking at it rings. By looking at these layers within glaciers, scientists have determined that CO2 levels have risen far greater in the last 200 years than any other time during a glacier's existence.
I did take a look at the Newsweek article from 1975 and within the past few years Newseek and MSNBC have changed their position about global cooling as a result of current scientific data.
With this all said, I do agree that it is up to us to care for our Earth.
Perry & Cratze,
really appreciate your input here. I am incredibly and hopelessly biased toward the whole global warming thing. I did extensive research and am more convinced than ever that mankind is NOT the primary cause of global warming. Trends go back 100's of years showing ups and downs in temperature. There are several major factors that caused the recent uptick of temperature. I agree with Craig that we must be responsible with what God has blessed us with - and pollution is a major factor. Global warming though... I'm still saying it's going to cool down. And when that happens - there will be millions of people that will be eating some serious crow... or coming up with some other reason to blame human beings for their existence. Sorry - a little baggage still left from my studying on this topic :)!
