The Greatest Gift
Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 8:17 AM
You probably thought I was gonna get all spiritual on you... but nope!
What was the best Christmas gift you got this year? And please, don't get all serious on me and talk about - the time with family or just being with my spouse was all the gift I needed!
I'm looking for the physical gift... under the tree type of thing.
What did you get that was really awesome to you?

The greatest gift that I received this year was a cross necklace. Not only was it something that I have been wanting, but the cross is beautiful. It sparkles enough to be seen across the room and I have noticed several people looking at it since I've been wearing it. What better than a gift that reminds others what Jesus did for us, not just something for me!!!
My favorite was all the perfume I got.... I love perfume cause I love to smell good. I love it when people stop me and compliment me on how good I smell and they take a deep breath. I loved everything else as well. Nothing beats my perfumes: Armani Code, Britney Spears Fantasy, Vera Wang Princess.... And it's especially nice because those that gave it to me knew I couldn't afford to by any of these for myself in a long time!!
New, thick socks. Oh yeah, that does it for me!!
iphone, definitely!!!!
Stephanie, Patty, Bob & Cindy,
Thanks for sharing your favorite presents. Very cool stuff. Bob - thick socks - very cool. But Cindy - yours would be my most envious present above... I almost got one - but maybe in 2009. Still need to convert my computers to Macs... a little more time is neededl :)!
Had a couple guys emailed me...
Gift certificate to the new Bass Pro Shop in Manteca. The original BPS is in Springfield, MO… unbelievable store
A book of Calvin and Hobbes comics. I always loved that strip and didn’t realize how much I miss it until I got this book and started going through it. Watterson had a very unique understanding of kids and their relationships with adults and their imaginary worlds. Leave it to Calvin to create snow sharks chasing after swimming snowmen. Or complaining about being sent outside to play and having so much fun he almost forgot to interrupt his fun to run back and tell his dad he wasn’t having any fun!!
My gifts were on Christmas Eve was Some money, Gold Hang-up wall cross of Christmas Naivety scene on it, IPod touch 32GB + leather black case with belt clip, Candy-Lindor Truffles Milk Chocolate small bag, 1 tunes and 2 Target gift cards, Christian T-Shirts and Sweatshirts, 2 long sleeves Regular T-shirts, 3 Christian CDS were 1 casting crowns band my favorite, 1 Chris Tomlin my favorite singer and Sara Greens Christmas album whoever she is? Statue Cross wood stained with verse. Going to Christmas Eve Service at my church was great worship and sermon and being with my mom at service, Having Christmas Eve dinner at Sunflower Chinese Cuisine in the Wal-mart shopping center in Elk Grove.
On Christmas day going to my grandma's church and having breakfast at Denny's in Elk Grove with my CR sponsor and his wife. Family stuff afterwards was just "ok".Hershey's candy bar. Opened ornament of the Wizard of Oz.
Most important gift to me was the statue cross wood stained with verse from my sponsor and his wife who is also my grandma's caregiver.
Note: The men's Christian clothes and sweatshirt went back only except for 1 because the others were too wild in my opinion. Used Target Gift Cards to buy more ITunes gift cards.
Happy New Year,
David D.
I got a Mandolin. I love the challenge of a new instrument. I can't decide if I want to go the Celtic or Bluegrass route.
Probably Celtic - I look more Irish than Hillbilly (I think).
Barry-I put my mind to it and decided that ALL I wanted for Christmas was an iphone. I told everyone who asked, to only give me money or mac gift cards so I could get my iphone....It is the only, and I mean ONLY gift I got. But it was soooo worth it. I am loving it. I spend WAY less time on the computer because I can access email/internet anywhere...I highly recommend it...
And, I am WAY still a windows girls, mac's are just too expensive for me....You don't need to convert to mac to get an iphone!
See you tomorrow!
Hi Barry - I'm late in the game, but wanted to share a really cool gift the girls and I gave Aggie two years ago, and he loved it so much that he has recycled it. It's all he's asked for (since he buys his own gadgets and gizmos throughout the year, he's impossible to buy for).
I purchased one of those cheesy big-grid, generic style calendars. The girls and I each wrote one thing we loved about Agrifino. Some were sappy, others nonsensical, but we ended up with one "365 reasons why we love you" calendar. The reasons ranged from "You gave me my daughters" to "You read comic books" to "You love America" on July 4. Seriously, he has cut and pasted new dates on the calendar to correspond to the new year. The handwriting is two years old -- so the memory of the girls' youth and state of mind are preserved. When Ag gets time, he e-mails me with the day's "Why you love me" and then he writes back a "Why I love you" for each of us, Nekaela and Talia included. It has been the gift that keeps on giving. A priceless treasure. I highly recommend it. Last year we did one for his parents.
WOW - those are some great gifts. Thanks for sharing! I want the iPhone AND the calendar... not sure about the Mandolin.
