Basketball Season - I'm an Assistant Coach
Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 10:54 AM
Max is playing basketball again and our first practice was this morning. I am actually the assistant coach this year - my first expedition into these realms.
It will be great to invest into these 3rd & 4th grade boys and see their lives changed because of the challenge, support, and inspiration that we will bring to them. It will be great to work with a Christian head coach and plant some seed among a few of these boys who have no real background in Christ.
Appreciate your prayers as we start practices today - and the games begin in January.

I'll be sending up a prayer for you and the basketball team. It is hard for me to believe that Max is that old already. My God bless that time that you have with the team. It always amazes me how discipline and teamwork in sports can reflect Christ when taught by a Christian man. Mark (husband) coaches high school tennis, which comes with its own challenges, but it amazes me the influence that he can have on the boys that he coaches just by coaching with understanding and integrity. Have a great season!
Good for you Barry on coaching your son. I have been coaching my son's soccer team for a couple years and and am getting ready to coach his basketball team as well. It does not get much better than instructing a group of individuals that are working togething, bringing each other up, working toward a common goal. Watching their confidence grow and the accomplishments they achieve is priceless. I could go on and on about the benefits of team sports in the youth of a child. Have a great season!
Ashley & Perry,
thanks so much for your well wishes and kind words. I hope to have an influence on them regarding the sport - but also with Christ as well.
