    Could I Be Any Goofier?

Ok – so I got to preach at my previous church, Kingsway Christian Church, in Indianapolis today. I was the youth pastor there. Of course I wanted to make a great impression… it’s been 9 years, to the day, since I was on staff there. So, message well practiced, I waited backstage to come up after a very cool video my team at Impact put together… and I waited, and waited. And while I waited – I looked around.

There used to be a raised baptistery – seriously, it was like 20’ in the air. But since I left, they lowered it to stage level. And I wanted to see it… while I was waiting backstage. This is what I saw... but it was in the dark... with no flash!

I took a step down the ramp you see to the right… thinking the actual baptistery water is right around the corner… right? No sweat. I’ve still got 4-5 minutes before I go on stage… to preach… to all these great people I used to minister to. Remember the great impression thing?

But what I found out after my third step – THAT’S WATER ON THE RAMP! I was walking in baptistery water… with my shoes on… and my khaki’s. Ohhh SNAP! What am I going to do?

Ummm, might as well leverage it. So I told everyone what a goober I was by walking on water… or at least ‘in’ water. Everyone laughed… AT me, not WITH me… which was kinda the point. It was an awesome day! Thanks Kingsway – for having me!

PS – this is what the baptistery looks like from the front.

Glad to see KCC made your blog.

as I see you in the balcony during the concert I can only think of the very old newsboys song with the lyric...by the light of the tv screen...as your dell laptop screen is lighting your face and providing a weird shadow on the back wall.

Thanks for giving up time for your family to come and share what God laid on your heart. It was something that we (including me) needed to hear.

    Thanks again.

It was great to see you today barry...great sermon! And you stepping in the baptistery, thats just Barry being Barry! I tried to convince Matt to dress up as Mr. Warm Fuzzy...but he wouldn't...maybe next time! If I come back out to the left coast I will come up and check out Impact.
