Vacation Scramble
Monday, August 4, 2008 at 10:07 AM It’s odd how productive an impending vacation can make you. You know what I’m talking about… you finalize all the projects you’ve been working on; you clean up your desk; you scramble to handle all the last minute details; you basically get more done in that “day before vacation” than any other day of the year. But why?
Could be that you don’t want to have it hanging over your head while you’re on vacation. Might be that you don’t want to walk back to a mess (dirty laundry, desk, etc). It could be that it’s just been ingrained into your heads that you’re supposed to do that.
Whatever the case, why don’t we operate like that BEFORE vacation? Why couldn’t our family motivate us to scramble like that? Maybe a ‘date’ with our spouse? What about scrambling all day so you can have some great quality time with God?
Yeah, you couldn’t do it every single day. But… might we try it once a week? Could we all take one day a week and pull out all the stops? Clear off our desks; finish up the projects; and take care of all the details? Could we get more done in one day than we do during the rest of the days of the week? Certainly worth the risk… don’t you think?
