30 Days Of Sex

We are about to tackle our third week of 30 Days of Sex. You can see a video of me explaining this series at www.30daysofsex.com any time you'd like. You might enjoy watching the video that precedes either message - it's totally goofy - classic Barry stuff.
One thing for sure, the media has eaten series thing up. Jennifer Garza from the Sacramento Bee was the first to break the story here. Since then, I have done a nationally syndicated show based out of New York at ABC News Radio.
Today, January 22, I will be doing a video taping at my office for a local TV station - Fox 40 News. In addition, I'll be doing a live radio show today as well at 3:40pm PST with KFBK Radio. You can actually click here and listen live (toward the right of the website) if you'd like to hear it.
Please continue to pray for Impact and for me as many people without all the facts have attacked and accused me and our church of all sorts of things... among those that I am the anti-Christ and a wolf in sheep's clothing. Just last week, I was just Barry. :) It's all good - but I would appreciate your prayers.

Hi Barry, First of all, if anyone else gives you real static (anti-Christ or sheep in wolf's clothing or anything else along those nonsensical lines), you let them know the 30 days of sex is "within" marriage, and you are also calling for those sexually active singles to try 30 days of abstinence, isn't that correct? Secondly, anyone giving you excessive guff - you just let them know that you have three big brothers in Indiana that may not take too kindly to excessive guff being given to their little brother. If that doen't work, they may have to deal with mom!! (You "do" have one thing incorrect in the above blog, from the time you were born, you have never been "just" Barry) Dale G.

Hurt people hurt people. I have always felt this and still do.
I have always found that when people are scared, insecure, angry, or know when someone is doing the right thing but do not want to accept it, they tend to name call, point fingers, accuse and twist words around.
I see this happening with you as you dive midway into the 30 Days of Sex.
Being "Disruptive" in our faith is something I believe in.
You are doing an amazing job in this and I am overwelmed with people's negative comments and name calling. It makes me happy to know that you Barry Smith, the man called by God to lead me into a kingdom I never would have even thought of looking into. The same man not more then 5 years ago I would have called you the very names being said now, not because they are true but because my own fears, ignorance and unwillingness to listen and learn the truth.
Keep "Distrupting" Barry as I keep you in my prayers.

You have a special way of getting more people to Christ then any other pastor I know. You are not just a pastor, but a true friend to us all. You always listen to us when we have hurts or troubles, give us the help we need and pray for us. I do feel strongly that this sermon series will help many people married or single. I like your creative videos at the beginning of each sermon and on the website. Disregard the rude comments as these people need prayer. Just stay Barry and don't change.

Great job on the radio today. Our family and our small group have been praying for you and for the church and for this series to do wonderful things!
Nice interview on the news as well. We are blessed when take any form of abuse for His name. Many people will come to know Christ, or know Him better because of this series and the press it is generating. Every time you have an opportunity to say "look at me" you always say "Look to Jesus." As long as we keep doing that, our Father will know our hearts and bless our work. Jesus did some pretty crazy things to get attention focused on His teachings and/or to make a point. Keep up the good work... you got brothers right here too.

Hey, thanks for the support everyone. Appreciate the kind words. And just so you know, I am doing great and not taking too much of these silly comments to heart. In fact, most of them are just so far 'out there' that they don't hold any weight.
As a side note, I did another radio show call in - Armstrong and Getty yesterday... some members of our church said they were talking about it - so I chimed in. They guys were great and we had a lot of fun.
Additionally, and I'll likely blog about this, they are talking hateful in Tracy about me as well. It's pretty awesome. I'm glad most all of it is radio... I'd have to get some security to go to Walmart! :)
Well I am free for Security. I always wanted to walk around in a black suit, with dark glasses and touch my ear, cover my mouth with my hand every time I talk. So this would be a childhood dream come true. Just consider it is all I am saying.
