    Autistic High School Basketball Star

This is absolutely one of the best videos I've ever seen. I sat here and cried as I watched it. If you don't like this, you don't have a heart. :) This autistic basketball team manager got a chance to actually play in the last game of the season. WOW! I can't imagine being this kids dad.

Head Coach Reggie Theus Fired From Sacramento Kings

Just about an hour ago, Reggie Theus, Sacramento Kings head coach was fired from the organization. I for one am a little disappointed. I thought he was a classy guy who had been dealt a horrible hand... including an unhealthy team.

The only thing that makes me think this could have been a good move is that it is reported Theus has alienated his teammates, Geoff Petrie, and the Moloofs. Probably not the best people to alienate. Then again, IS there anyone else to alienate?

Who/What WILL the Maloofs look to blame the rest of this year? Who will be the scapegoat? Listen, if you want to use the new younger guys, develop them, get them experience - then by golly you're going to lose some games. Let's not forget to put some of the responsibility of this crappy season on the players. Brad Miller, who has been one of my favorite players (as far as value to the team), has all but checked out. Smoking pot, yelling at refs, complaints, bad attitude on the court. Dude - he is the $11 million dollar man this year and should be leading by example. Some example Brad.

Sadly, I still remain a fan... I still believe. I don't need the grief but choose to hold on to hope!

Basketball Season - I'm an Assistant Coach

Max is playing basketball again and our first practice was this morning. I am actually the assistant coach this year - my first expedition into these realms.

It will be great to invest into these 3rd & 4th grade boys and see their lives changed because of the challenge, support, and inspiration that we will bring to them. It will be great to work with a Christian head coach and plant some seed among a few of these boys who have no real background in Christ.

Appreciate your prayers as we start practices today - and the games begin in January.

    Sacramento Kings Games

WOW - I get to go to the Sacramento Kings game tonight. I figured that I probably wouldn't be able to get to any games this season due to some financial readjustments.

But out of the first five home games, I have had the opportunity to attend two of them - the home opener and tonight's game. HOW? Because of awesome and generous friends. Last Sunday, a man came up after church and put something in my front shirt pocket and walked away. I finished my conversation with someone else and then pulled out the two 'lower level' tickets and chased the guy outside to thank him.

What a blessing for me... especially when they win. Tonight the Phoenix Suns come to town. I'm not EXPECTING a win - but am very HOPEFUL for one! It'll be a great time either way!

    GO KINGS!

Star Spangled Amazement - You Gotta See This

Seriously folks, this is probably the best rendition of the Star Spangled Banner ever sung.

The National Anthem was sung on February 9th at a Texas Tech basketball game. Here's what makes it so amazing... it was sung by two 6yr olds, two 7yr olds and an 8yr old.

National Anthem from Barry Smith on Vimeo.

The entire arena stood in silence the entire time. You could have heard a pin drop... at a Texas Tech game - are you kidding me?  (click National Anthem if you don't see the video above)

The two girls on the right are 6. The two in the middle are 7 and the one on the left is 8. This is WELL WORTH your time.

    Have a great weekend.
