LeBron James - showing how it's done

This is awesome. I got to see it on TV last Saturday night and thought you should see it too.

He hit this shot right before half time of Game 1 in the First Round of the NBA Playoffs.

To say that LeBron James is the best... well... it's just not good enough. I think the Sacramento Kings need to pick him up next year. Can you imagine Kevin Martin & LeBron James? YOUCH!

Maybe I'll get a Corvette this year as well.

    Confessions of a Kings Fan

Ok - so I got some free tickets to attend the Friday Kings / Cavaliers game. I was incredibly excited because the seats were row "H" and on the isle at center court. I was also pumped about seeing LeBron James - probably the best player in the league.

The Kings really beat the Cav's. Serious. They outplayed them up and down the court with a 16 point lead with just 30 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.

That's when the Kings choked... they just started playing like wussy's. They tried to protect the lead... to be too careful. They stopped being aggressive. They stopped attacking on offense.

I HATED THE GAME! It was ours. It was a win. It was in the bag. And we choked... again! I went home and was physically mad. Then... I was even more mad at myself for being mad about another stupid loss. I would rather have lost by 20 than have it go down to the wire like that... and choke.

    Oh, I'm still a fan... it's in my blood. I wish I could get a transfusion, but I won't.

Here's the insight. I think we do the same in the church. We see people come to Christ (we get a lead), and then we go into protect mode. We just want to 'keep our lead.' We don't continue to be aggressive. We don't continue to passionately reach out to unchurched people.

And that, my friends, is more than disappointing. I am so thrilled that we have a church that continues to reach out! As we grow bigger than we've ever been (well over 700 now), we continue to be aggressive, to seek ways to reach out, to not protect our lead but to gain on our lead.

    I love Impact Community Church.

Head Coach Reggie Theus Fired From Sacramento Kings

Just about an hour ago, Reggie Theus, Sacramento Kings head coach was fired from the organization. I for one am a little disappointed. I thought he was a classy guy who had been dealt a horrible hand... including an unhealthy team.

The only thing that makes me think this could have been a good move is that it is reported Theus has alienated his teammates, Geoff Petrie, and the Moloofs. Probably not the best people to alienate. Then again, IS there anyone else to alienate?

Who/What WILL the Maloofs look to blame the rest of this year? Who will be the scapegoat? Listen, if you want to use the new younger guys, develop them, get them experience - then by golly you're going to lose some games. Let's not forget to put some of the responsibility of this crappy season on the players. Brad Miller, who has been one of my favorite players (as far as value to the team), has all but checked out. Smoking pot, yelling at refs, complaints, bad attitude on the court. Dude - he is the $11 million dollar man this year and should be leading by example. Some example Brad.

Sadly, I still remain a fan... I still believe. I don't need the grief but choose to hold on to hope!

Health Stuff - Final Report... I Hope

Well, I went to the doctor today for a follow-up appointment. Hate to say I told you so. But I did. He doesn't know what caused the pain. But the pain has subsided and is almost gone. And just about everything has been ruled out that might have been 'big stuff.' The ultrasound and blood work revealed all normal.

Thanks for the prayers everyone. Not only do I feel much better - but the Sacramento Kings crushed the Los Angeles Lakers last night 113-101. That, my friends, could have been what healed me. Then again, their pathetic play up to this point might have been the cause of my ailments. It's tough to be loyal to a struggling team.

Glad God is loyal to me... as a struggling 'player' for His team.

    Sacramento Kings Games

WOW - I get to go to the Sacramento Kings game tonight. I figured that I probably wouldn't be able to get to any games this season due to some financial readjustments.

But out of the first five home games, I have had the opportunity to attend two of them - the home opener and tonight's game. HOW? Because of awesome and generous friends. Last Sunday, a man came up after church and put something in my front shirt pocket and walked away. I finished my conversation with someone else and then pulled out the two 'lower level' tickets and chased the guy outside to thank him.

What a blessing for me... especially when they win. Tonight the Phoenix Suns come to town. I'm not EXPECTING a win - but am very HOPEFUL for one! It'll be a great time either way!

    Kevin Martin - Sacramento Kings

Here is a good reason to watch the Sacramento Kings this year... K-Mart slams on former #1 pick Greg Oden of the Portland Trailblazers.  Sweet stuff.

Kevin Martin crosses Fernandez and dunks on Oden
